A K Ranjit is a filmmaker and educationist. Born in India, he received his MBA IS, Advance Diploma in Multimedia Animation Graphics. He has spent more than 7 years teaching various community groups how to make documentaries that bring about social change. He has also been imparting knowledge across all age groups on using media as a tool for activism. He has worked with non-profits across the country teaching film as well as in academia including FDDI (Ministry of Commerce), Satyam Fashion Institute, and is currently with Ashoka University as Director Media Lab, Media Studies Dept.
A K Ranjit believes in a hands-on approach and his robust educational background aids in imparting theoretical knowledge in the art of filmmaking that matters. He has developed as well as conducted several summer documentary workshops for the youth. With more than 2 decades of experience in the Media, Ranjit has got vast field knowledge of the workings of media as well. He has been in the core team for the launch of several leading TV News channels including WION, NewsX, NewsX HD and Star News as a set designer and technical adviser. He has also directed live News shows for WION during the American Presidential Elections in 2016. Apart from this, Ranjit has a wide experience of providing production & post-production support in making several films for HAQ CRC, DRDO, Ministry of Textiles, and Tupperware. A strong technical understanding of media technology across functions & the ability to transform it into creating a strong educational module is what makes Ranjit stand apart from the rest.
