B.P Prakash is Chief Librarian, Ashoka University. He has been the Global Library Head and Senior General Manager at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). He led the TCS library to win the prestigious “Centre for Excellence Award ” from the Special Library Association (SLA), the USA in 2009 and the ”Best Technology Enabled Library” award from Informatics Publishing Ltd in 2018.
Prior to this, he supported the Tata Research Development & Design Center (TRDDC), TCS as its Branch Library Head for eight years. His earlier assignments included Hindustan Photo Films (HPF), Ootacamund, and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru, India.
He is a Gold Medalist in Library & Information Science from the University of Mysore and is a recipient of the ‘MANLIBNET Best Librarian Award 2012’. He also served as the President of Asian Chapter of SLA and is on the Editorial Board of “Journal of Library Management”. Currently, he is on the Board of studies of Dept of L&IS, CUSAT, Kochi. Being an active member of Libray & information Science (L&IS) fraternity, he is a life member of SLA and Indian L&IS associations (ILA, IASLIC, MANLIBNET & SIS).
