Deboshruti Roychowdhury

Deboshruti Roychowdhury is the Dean of Student Affairs in Ashoka University looking after the offices of Student Life, Residential Life, Sports, and the Centre for Wellbeing. As a Dean of Student Affairs she provides leadership and direction that continues to enhance the overall quality of student and residential life in Ashoka.

 

Deboshruti has received her Ph.D. from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London and has two Masters degrees.

 

Her areas of interest are Philosophy and Gender studies. She received her B.A degree at Presidency College, Kolkata, securing the first position in the faculty of Arts, University of Calcutta, which gave her the prestigious position of being an Ishan Scholar.

 

She has had various Research Fellowships with the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London, University of Surrey, Michigan State University, and with the Govt. of India. She has taught in Michigan State University, SOAS, and was the founding Dean of Student Affairs of Presidency University, Kolkata.

 

She has worked as a journalist for the BBC, Channel 4, and AnandaBazar Patrika and was the founding editor of the school edition of Anandabazar Patrika. Deboshruti is a columnist and has more than hundred articles to her credit.

 

She has authored and edited two books and is currently working on her first fiction.
