Undergraduate Programme in Computer Science

Computer science impacts nearly every modern endeavor. The undergraduate CS curriculum at Ashoka has been designed to provide students with the flexibility to work across many disciplines. The curriculum identifies the fundamental skills and knowledge that all computer science graduates possess while providing flexibility in selecting topics.

  • Major

    To receive a B.Sc. degree with a major in Computer Science, a student must accumulate 100 credit points at the end of three years. The course divisions and credit points requirements are as follows:

    1. Foundation and Critical Thinking courses (36 credits)

    2. Co-Curricular courses (4 credits)

    3. Computer Science Major courses (60 credits). A student must complete 10 CS core courses (40 credits) and 20 credits of CS electives.

  • Minor

    To receive a minor in Computer Science, a student must accumulate 24 credit points from the CS department. The course divisions and credit points requirements are as follows.

    1. Introduction to Computer Programming.

    2. Three CS core courses (12 credits) from the list of core courses for CS pure major.

    3. Eight credits of CS core/elective courses

  • Interdisciplinary Majors

    A prospective Computer Science interdisciplinary major student must complete 116 credits by the end of the undergraduate programme. The department of Computer Science currently offers 2 interdisciplinary majors:

  • Concentration

    To receive a concentration in Computer Science, a student must accumulate 16 credit points from the CS department. The course divisions and credit points requirements are as follows.

    1. Introduction to Computer Programming.

    2. Three CS core courses (12 credits) from the list of core courses for CS pure major.
