Lantz Fleming Miller

Visiting Associate Professor of Philosophy, Ashoka University

Ph.D. City University of New York Graduate Center

Lantz Fleming Miller took his MA in philosophy and MFA in writing from Columbia University and PhD in philosophy from City University of New York Graduate Center. While he is drawn to most areas of philosophy, his speciality is moral and socio-political philosophy, with interests in metaethics such as what is value; applied ethics, especially issues in effects of technology on individuals and culture; and issues in gender, origins of patriarchy, ethnicity, human rights, and equality. He tends toward a type of naturalism, while sceptical about the sciences holding the key to all truth and knowledge. Rather, philosophical challenges may stay with us as long we or other reflective species exist.

His research articles and reviews have appeared in a number of journals, including American Journal of Bioethics, Human Rights Review, Ethical Theory and Moral Practice, Ethics and Information Technology, The New Bioethics, Journal of Responsible Innovation, Journal of Consciousness Studies, Environmental Ethics, Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Ethics, Film & History, Journal of Science and Information Ethics, Hypatia, Journal of Indigenous Policy, among others.

He has also authored two novels, the underground City Limit and the ersatz Nietzschean Beholt, The Man.
