The Research and Development Office (RDO) at Ashoka has been created to provide centralized assistance to Ashoka faculty and researchers towards academic research. This is done through a set of proactive, capacity-building strategies to increase the University’s competitive advantage and international prominence. The office has four major operation areas – extramural grant management, research infrastructure management, research scholar’s management, and research communication.

Research Infrastructure Management | Scholar Management |
The RDO assists the faculty and researchers in seeking external funding from international and domestic funding agencies, to meet the infrastructural requirements for research. It works closely with the faculty by helping them in pre-funding process and post-funding management. The mandate of the Research and Development Office undertakes the task of facilitating external research funding in the form of research grants, consultancy projects and others, | Research Communication aims at bridging the gap between science and society and creating an impact for Ashoka’s research by making it accessible for all. The focus of the Research Communication unit is also on effective liaison between Research, Business and Outreach Offices for smooth running of outreach and fundraising events. RDO is regularly updating Ashoka’s marketing collateral and is significantly contributing to the conceptualisation and execution of various Communications and Public Engagement Initiatives. | Research Infrastructure Management unit of RDO provides executive and administrative support to the Ashoka faculty in setting up as well as development of their individual research laboratories. The extramural grants owned by the faculty are responsibly spent for development of various specialized research labs. | The Scholar Management unit of RDO assists the PIs in recruiting project staff for their projects and PhD Scholars across all departments. The hiring process of research personnel adheres to the regulations specified by respective funding agencies. The Scholar Management Wing also helps the PI with the appointment of research personnel and in extending/updating and terminating their contracts with the university. The Scholar Management unit also takes care of the remuneration and contingency disbursement of all Research Personnel working at Ashoka. It acts as a liaison between all administrative departments and the Research Personnel for all their needs and requirements. |
