Prachi Ahluwalia

YIF 2019-20, Age: 24, Hometown: Roorkee

Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) - Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Chandigarh

Voldemort wiping out The Ministry of Magic’s records from 1985-1998 has led to Prachi meandering the Muggle world for the last 24 years! Despite the same, she has managed to have quite an eventful life. The question of “Which city are you from?” still manages to fluster her, courtesy of her father’s transferable job which saw them traverse more than six cities in the last 24 years. The constant resettlement has made her more resilient, adaptable and appreciative of the wide diversity of the country she lives in. Prachi was born to doting Punjabi parents and lived six years before her parents brought into this world the Watson to her Sherlock. Courtesy her parents’ fixation with fitness she has dabbled in many sports but the closest to her heart remains table tennis. Her nerdiness was at an all-time high when she topped her high school examination. Post which Prachi’s peers christened her as Sheldon Cooper!

Prachi believing in inclusiveness did not want to juggle to be only associated with clowns. This resulted in the brilliant idea of volunteering at an NGO Make a Difference (MAD) while attending full-time college and CA coaching. Which in turn made her realise the importance of arming a person with education is at the heart of equal opportunities and ensuring mitigation of any disadvantages a person might have.

Most days Prachi can be found wearing Kurtis as a substitute for cloaks reading a happily ever after novel and seeking new avenues beyond what has been dictated by her studies till now. She is known among her relatives for all the not-so-Picasso paintings that she makes for them and has perfected the art of going through Watson’s music files. She holds a genuine desire to learn and explore new ideas and thoughts and that is w2hy YIF seemed the logical next step.
