Hailing from Bhopal, an Electronics Engineer by education, a transitional software developer and an aspiring cinematographer, Utkarsh has explored various disciplinary avenues until he found Ashoka. A participant at heart, he has been actively involved in dance, drama and essay writing, but he believes, it was cricket and football that gave him initial recognition as a performer. Striking a balance between academics and sports he came fifth in the district and contributed actively to the school cricket then.
Never sure about career choices though, he took to what he believed was the next best thing – Engineering where he delved into both technical and cultural societies and learned a great deal about dealing with complex subjects. It was during engineering he evolved as a leader in sports commanding his sides to the finals of football and cricket events but some core realisations waited until he took a trip to Goa, where he felt like he discovered a photographer in himself.
He never knew that seeing life in frames would become an obsession and that he would quit his absorbing and felicitous job for the pursuit of his deep-rooted interests. It was a week after this decisive moment that he received an offer to work for TEDx Navlakha as a photographer and since then, he has not looked back. He strongly believes that travelling and breathing his passion has made him more connected to himself. Deeply inspired by the YIF programme, he reckons to find resonance with his peers and faculties which will help him in evolving as an elevated storyteller.
