A Peer Learning Experience Like No Other

The YIF cohort is rich in demographic diversity. Fellows come from different geographies, varied education disciplines and socio-economic backgrounds. Many of them excel in extracurricular activities and avocations, and have won accolades in their areas of expertise. A substantial percentage of the cohort also has work experience. With excellent academic support, infrastructure and resources, the Fellowship becomes a platform for the Fellows to share knowledge. The following points broadly describe the rationale of supporting peer learning at the YIF –

The real feeling of Fellowship – A structured approach to the peer learning process gives Fellows a chance to collaborate effectively. In sync with the broad principles of the YIF – providing a holistic learning experience, and nurturing leadership, creativity and empathy, it also reinforces the idea that learning is not confined only to the classroom and the faculty.

Learning new things – Since the Fellows have different skill-sets, they can enrich their learning experience by sharing knowledge. Thus, peer learning gives a chance to the Fellows to learn new things in an informal setting.

Need based sessions – These sessions cater to specific learning needs of the Fellows – academic, professional and extracurricular. Skill-based workshops are conducted by qualified peers.

Experience of teaching – Fellows get a chance to sharpen their skill-sets and communication. It also helps them evaluate their own expertise and add value to their curriculum vitae. Certificates are awarded to the Fellows conducting the sessions.
